Lewis and the Sunshine Cat
Lewis began playing at 11 years old and since then he has had a variety of teachers and years of frustration, enlightenment and fun out of the guitar. When he was but a lad he was playing in rock bands, flamenco duos and weird jazz, pop and fusion bands, gigging every week and that aspect has not really changed as he can’t remember a time when he didn’t have a performance on the horizon and doesn’t think he’d cope very well if he didn’t. Once he left school he got a HND in Music and started up a jazz duo and a 6 piece funk band, then when him and his wife Vicki moved to Yorkshire, they continued with the Jazz duo, The Sunshine Cat and have become loved by so many.
Lewis and Vicki live in a little cottage in the lovely Yorkshire Dales and have enjoyed a lot of great experiences together as partners and as musicians. Before they came to Yorkshire they went on a month long trip to New Orleans, got a chance to play at some great clubs and gained a whole bunch of weight. Once they returned they started gigging playing at many venues in Yorkshire such as Bibis, The Rum Rooms, Head Of Steam, Handmade Burger Co (Glasgow) plus many more as well as weddings and parties.
As well as performing Lewis works as a Steel Hand/Rigger working at festivals and concerts and also deps for a funk band. Lewis really enjoys production and often works in his studio on his own projects, which involve a lot of visuals and foley or mixing and editing music for theatre groups etc. The idea is to earn his living from music related projects and he feels he is finally making progress. Happy Days 🙂
